The festival is held at the Cobargo Showground, a rural Showground owned by the NSW Government. We do our best to make the site accessible for all but there are inherent physical limitations as the Showground is located on a hillside. Access improvements have been made to the fixed venues and toilets to allow wheelchair access. There are three car parks set aside for accessible parking for vehicles with MPS permits – – two are just within the main gate and a third at the top of the site. We have a chill out space and professional First Aid room. More improvements are planned. Accredited assistance animals are welcome but strictly no pets. if you have a particular question about access please email us at info@cobargofolkfestival.com
Gulaga, is a mountain within the Gulaga National Park. Yuin people know Gulaga as Mother Mountain. It is an important women’s place, linked to ceremony, childbirth and storytelling. The Gulaga Stage is in the Pavilion building at the head of the Showground site and overlooks the entire festival.
Biamanga (also known as Mumbulla Mountain) is the central feature of Biamanga Aboriginal Place, which is part of a large ceremonial and cultural pathway on the south coast. The Biamanga Stage is located on the Showground Arena
The Wandella Stage is located on the Showground Arena. It is named after a mountain in the Wadbilliga National Park to the west of Cobargo.
The Yuin Folk Club Stage. The Yuin Folk Club banner forms the backdrop to the stage. This venue derives its name from the Yuin Folk Club, which was named in honour, and with permission, of the Yuin Nation on the South Coast. The Yuin Folk Club Inc is the producer of the Cobargo Folk Festival.
The Yuin Elders’ Yarning Tent is located on the Showground Arena. This venue is managed by First Nations volunteers from the Yuin Community and is a place of healing where we can share yarns, songs and knowledge, where all feel welcome, where no question is a stupid question and where we can come together to learn about each other and move into the future together.
The Brolga venue is named after an Australian bird in the crane family that is well known for its intricate mating dance. In normal years, this venue is used for dance.
The Crossing Youth Performer Stage promotes youth musical talent from the Far South Coast at the Cobargo Folk Festival. The Crossing has a unique stage and youth space for musicians between 14 years and 21 years of age. The chance to play at the festival offers young and emerging musicians a great opportunity to express their own sound, perform original material and to gain stage confidence and experience in front of a music savvy crowd. The Crossing Youth Stage is also our 2025 Blackboard Stage, which will run Friday, Saturday evening after the last youth artist, and Sunday.
Spooners Bar and the Festival Shop are co-located in the central Showground building. It is a licenced premise serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Just across the road from Spooners is our new Session Space – hoping for some great tunes sessions during the festival in this space. The Bar Opening hours will be publicised in the bar and in the Festival program book.
The Session Shed is opposite Spooners Bar and is available for impromptu and programmed sessions and picks.
The Singing Room is located in the Yowrie, next to the Gulaga, and available for singing sessions after the final programmed act.
Workshops are held in the Yowrie and Narira venues. The Narira venue is located behind the Instrument Lockup, just beyond the Gulaga.
