Savoy Swing of Canberra is represented by long time Swing and Blues dancers Cathie, Steve, Katie and Katherine. Swing and Blues Dance is a broad term that encompasses historic dances of the African American culture. These dances evolved in response to Swing and Blues music of the early 20th century. The Dances are as varied as the music itself, from playful and fast-paced Swing to grounded, rhythmic Blues. Our performance(s) will reflect an authentic expression of Swing and Blues Dance by performing alongside Jazz and Blues musicians, allowing for real-time interpretation, improvisation and collaboration.
