The historic and picturesque village of Cobargo on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, has been home to the Cobargo Folk Festival for the past 22 years.

More than 6000 folk music lovers converge on the Cobargo Showground over the first weekend in March to enjoy great music, workshops, spoken word events and to reconnect with family and friends, in a beautiful rural setting. Hosted by the Yuin Folk Club Inc, the festival is a celebration of folk music and folk culture from Australia and the world.

Presented by the Yuin Folk Club, the Cobargo Folk Festival is organised entirely by unpaid volunteers from the local community, who are supported by some 250 additional volunteers who join us from all over the country at Festival time to help stage this awesome event. Any profits raised during the festival go back into the community and the festival. Funds are used to improve local community facilities, fund the festival build and the artistic program and provided as grant funding for music education and development projects in the region.

Cobargo Folk Festival is run by community, for community.

Yuin Folk Club Annual Concert Series

The Yuin Folk Club are delighted to present internationally acclaimed performers Kate Burke and Luke Plumb in concert at the Cobargo Hotel Motel at 2 pm on Sunday, October 15th. Kate, now based in Candelo is a singer and multi-instrumentalist best known as part of Trouble in the Kitchen and in a close harmony duo with Ruth Hazleton. Luke’s mandolin playing was the musical driving force behind Scottish mega-band Shooglenifty, which made frequent headline tours of Australia.
Kate and Luke share a love for 1970s Irish folk revival music, having obsessively absorbed the music of the era - in particular Planxty’s revolutionary treatments of traditional songs. Since then they have each toured with Andy Irvine, with both being featured on Andy’s most recent album Precious Heroes, which Luke produced.
Kate & Luke now bring their formidable instrumental skills, strong vocals and creative minds to making groove-based, complex interpretations of traditional song.
Tickets (members $20,non-members $25) at the door of the hotel restaurant.

The Yuin Folk Club has presented eight great concerts so far this year, Christine Collister and Michael Fix, the Seamus Begley Trio, Fromseier Hockings, Sarah Carroll, Beautifully Mad, Tony McManus and Fiona Ross, Den Hanrahan and the Rum Runners, Kieran Halpin and Jed Rowe. Keep watching for details of new concert gigs.

The Yuin Folk Club is run by volunteers and the money raised at the door goes to pay the artists, funds the sound system and pays for the tea and coffee. Hope to see you there! Help us keep music live in Cobargo.

The Yuin Folk Club acknowledges the Yuin people who are the traditional custodians of this land where we hold our Cobargo Folk Festival. Permission to use the name "Yuin" for our club was given by Yuin Elder Aunty Eileen Morgan (dec) when we set up the club.
