The 2018 Cobargo Folk Festival will be held from Friday 2 March to Sunday 4 March 2018. Performer applications are now closed.

After a short winter hibernation, the Yuin Folk is delighted to present two outstanding singer-songwriters, one Irish, one Australian in concerts in August and September. Your support for these events is much appreciated and we will shortly announce some other exciting shows for later in the year.

Making a return visit to Australia, and Cobargo after many years, Kieran Halpin has recorded 20 albums, two live DVD’s and published 3 songbooks with 50 songs per book. He is rightly regarded as one of the hardest working musicians with upwards of 160 shows per year. Halpin is a successful songwriter with many of his songs covered by other artist including Dolores Keane, The Battlefield Band, Vin Garbutt, Niamh Parsons, Ilse De Lange, Geraldine McGowan, Chris Jones, The John Wright Band and countless others. Halpin’s songs are performed in clubs, pubs and concert halls throughout the world.

Kieran will be appearing from 2 pm on Sunday 20 August in the restaurant at the Cobargo Hotel. (booking info at the end of this post.)

Making his first trip to Cobargo, Jed Rowe is an acclaimed singer/songwriter and guitarist from Melbourne. The son of two musicians, Rowe showed early promise as a fiction writer, winning a national undergraduate short story competition before turning his attention to song writing. His music walks the line between country, blues and folk and his 4th album 'A Foreign Country' ) is a richly told collection of stories of Australian life. Rowe’s sublime slide guitar playing and emotive vocal delivery have earned him a reputation as a standout live performer. He has toured extensively in Australia and Europe and performed at major festivals including Tamworth Country Music Festival & Port Fairy Folk Festival. Rolling Stone described his music as “Heartland alt-country shot through with nostalgia.”

Jed will also perform at the Cobargo Hotel from 2pm on Sunday, September 3rd.

Hope to see you all there.

The Yuin Folk Club has presented seven great concerts so far this year, Christine Collister and Michael Fix, the Seamus Begley Trio, Fromseier Hockings, Sarah Carroll, Beautifully Mad, Tony McManus and Fiona Ross, and Den Hanrahan and the Rum Runners Keep watching for details of new concert gigs.

The Yuin Folk Club is run by volunteers and the money raised at the door goes to pay the artists, funds the sound system and pays for the tea and coffee. Hope to see you there! Help us keep music live in Cobargo.

The Yuin Folk Club acknowledges the Yuin people who are the traditional custodians of this land where we hold our Cobargo Folk Festival. Permission to use the name "Yuin" for our club was given by Yuin Elder Aunty Eileen Morgan (dec) when we set up the club.
